The Inspiration

So what inspired Bottega Veneta’s first fragrance collection compromise of 5 unique creations? It is no surprise that the collection is a love letter to the brand’s origin city of Venice, as well as the house’s signature leather weave, the Intrecciato. The former, known as a hub of cross-cultural trade and encounter, inspired each of the collection’s five fragrances as a meeting of ingredients from different countries and continents. The latter, Intrecciato, weaves together natural origin essences from different corners of the globe into evocative perfumes that compromise Bottega Veneta’s first fragrance collection.

Fragrance Notes

Priced at US $450 with refills available for US $320, the eau de parfum comes in five scents named Déjà Minuit, Colpo di Sole, Acqua Sale, Alchemie and Come With Me.  Déjà Minuit captures the essence of sophisticated and seductive allure, blending heady notes of Geranium from Madagascar with the spicy warmth of Guatemalan Cardamom; Acqua Sale merges woody labdanum absolute from Spain with Macedonian juniper oil to evoke the enveloping scent of saltwater on the skin. Sophisticated and seductive; Alchemie, meanwhile, marries Brazilian pink pepper with precious myrrh from Somalia in an encounter of exhilarating opulence; Come with Me blends the fresh elegance of Italian Bergamot with the powdery violet of French Orris butter; and Colpo di Sole captures the warmth of the Mediterranean sun, blending tranquil notes of French Angelica oil with the radiant sensuality of orange blossom. Overall Bottega Veneta’s first fragrance is fresh and elegant.

Packaging

The real deal, however, is the simplistic but statement packaging. Blazy’s fragrance collection also elevates the bottle to an exceptional level of craft and tactile pleasure. This is a design that is not only a container of perfume, but also a further embodiment of the Veneto region, and of the House’s unique artisanal heritage. Elevated on a base of Verde Saint Denis marble that evokes the marble walls, flooring, and facades of Venetian architecture, while the fragrance is housed in an organically shaped glass bottle inspired by the artisanal heritage of the Veneto region. The translucent glass bottle is designed to imitate the lagoon environment of Venice with a rippling effect, and the supple leather shapes that defined Bottega Veneta’s design. What’s more? The design uses a tailor-made process to recreate the aesthetic of mouth-blown glass which is a nod to Murano glassblowing — a craft that defined Blazy’s Fall/Winter 24 show space.

The bottle’s sculptural wood design pays homage to the foundations of Venetian palazzos, featuring a distinct colour or shade for each fragrance that draws inspiration from modern Venetian design and architecture. Emphasizing sustainability, Bottega Veneta’s first fragrance bottles are easy to refill and utilize 0% plastic and sustainable materials.
Blazy spent two years working on the fragrances, to ensure all the ingredients were completely natural. The magic of the perfume however is that the organic ingredients react differently with everyone’s skin, making the fragrances truly personal. This may be Bottega Veneta’s first fragrance launch under Matthieu Blazy but the brand is no stranger to scent. It launched its very first fragrance in 2011 and continued to release new perfumes until 2021.
