Cristiano Ronaldo and Jacob & Co. have been an inseparable team for the past two decades. Celebrating this union, the brand and the soccer legend united once again to reveal two timepieces—the CR7 Epic X Flight of CR7 and the Heart of CR7.
Boasting a profoundly personalized design, the Epic Xcollection gets its name from the two vertical pillars that form the central part of the X shape initiated by the lugs. These pillars represent the association between Cristiano Ronaldo and Jacob & Co. While the left pillar showcases Ronaldo in different postures, the right one features the CR7 logo and his hand signature engraved in bold letters. The caseback, made with tainted sapphire crystal also features a gold-printed image of Cristiano Ronaldo, wearing his iconic and lucky number 7 jersey.
While both watches bear a resemblance in terms of design, each stands out on its own. The Flight of CR7 comes in an 18-karat rose gold case while the Heart of CR7 is stainless steel. Both watches come with an optional addition of baguette diamonds along the dial. The rose gold model shows the image of Ronaldo from the back while the steel model portrays him from the front.
Case & movement
Updating the shape of the Epic X case, Jacob & Co ditches the once-stepped bezel for a smooth and polished one with a steeper angle. Continuing the Ronaldo tribute, the skeleton barrel cover is shaped like a football.
The flange bears an identical colour along with a redesigned typeface. To the satin-finished edges on the two vertical bridges, the body of the X. And more discretely, to their underside, visible only through the sapphire caseback. The entire movement is brought to life by Jacob & Co.’s signature calibre, the JCAM45 offering a skeletonized movement with a characteristic “Octopus” spring at the back.
The watches are limited to 99 pieces per model. The Flight of CR7 costs US $70,029 without diamonds and US $181,331 with diamonds. The Heart of CR7 costs US $34,988 without diamonds, and US $146,331 with diamonds.
