Introducing Orient Express La Minerva, the brands first hotel in Rome
The legendary Orient Express, known for its luxurious train journeys and timeless elegance, has finally made a stop you won’t want to miss, but this time, it’s not on the rails. Say hello to Orient Express La Minerva, the very first Orient Express hotel, now open in the heart of Rome. And yes, it’s just as dreamy, glamorous, and full of old-world charm as you’d expect. Of course, when I heard the news that Orient Express is opening its first-ever hotel in Rome, Italy, I was overjoyed!

Located in the centre of the Eternal City, Orient Express La Minerva is tucked inside a stunning 17th-century palazzo, just steps away from the Pantheon. It’s full of charm and history, with frescoed ceilings, grand marble staircases, and sweeping views of Rome’s rooftops. With 93 rooms and 36 one-of-a-kind suites, all are brought to life by architect and artist Hugo Toro. The suites, including the elegant Stendhal Suite (named after the French writer who once stayed here), are peaceful little hideaways that capture the charm of Rome and the spirit of classic travel. Toro has blended Roman history with a touch of luxury perfectly. Think hand-painted skies above the bed, custom furniture inspired by vintage train travel, and thoughtful details in every corner.

One of the most exciting things about Orient Express La Minerva is how it blends classic Italian style with the spirit of luxury train travel. The interiors are a nod to the golden age of travel, with custom-made furniture, vintage-inspired details, and lush materials everywhere you look. Each room at Orient Express La Minerva is inspired by the golden age of travel. You’ll find custom bedside trunks, elegant wooden finishes that echo the classic train carriages, and soft, luxurious bedding by Rivolta Carmignani—the same brand used on the original Orient Express sleeper trains. The hallways bring to mind the polished charm of the iconic train, while the lounges and common areas are designed to give you a rich, sensory experience throughout your stay.

Orient Express La Minerva is also home to three incredible dining spots that celebrate the brand’s passion for great food and timeless elegance. You can start at La Minerva Bar in the lobby, a quiet retreat with a striking glass roof, glowing marble columns, and the statue of Minerva watching over it all. It’s the perfect place to unwind with a drink while soaking up the energy of Rome. Come May 2025, Gigi Rigolatto will open its doors on the hotel’s rooftop. Think Mediterranean charm, buzzing atmosphere, and breathtaking views over the Pantheon, St. Peter’s Basilica and more. Developed by Rikas Hospitality Group and Paris Society, and designed by Hugo Toro, Gigi is all about good food, good wine, and good times. And that’s not all… later this year, the award-winning Mimi Kakushi will also arrive at Orient Express La Minerva. This stylish Japanese restaurant takes you back to 1920s Osaka, a time when East met West in exciting ways. Expect bold flavours, cool jazz age vibes, and a truly unique dining experience that’s already wowed diners in Dubai and beyond.
