Gulmurg

Images:Gulmurg

For over six decades, Gulmurg at The Shalimar Hotel, Kemps Corner, has been woven into the fabric of Mumbai’s dining culture. Since opening its doors in 1962, the restaurant has welcomed generations of families, hosted countless celebrations, and built a loyal following through food that remained consistent, hospitality that felt personal, and an experience that always felt familiar. Now, following an eighteen-month restoration, Gulmurg enters its next chapter.
At the heart of this chapter is a family legacy spanning three generations.

What began with a deep commitment to hospitality and quality under the founding generation was carried forward by Mr. D.S Advani, Chairman & Managing Director of The Shalimar Hotel, and today continues through Yash Advani, who will now lead the restaurant into its future. For the family, Gulmurg has never simply been a business. It has been a responsibility one built over decades of relationships, returning guests, and a genuine belief that hospitality is ultimately about making people feel cared for.

While the restaurant has evolved with the times, its foundations remain unchanged. Signature dishes that have become synonymous with Gulmurg continue to hold their place on the menu, from the iconic Chicken Makhanwala and Paneer Makhanwala to long-standing favourites that generations of guests have grown up with. Alongside these classics, the menu has been thoughtfully expanded with new regional influences, seasonal additions and contemporary touches that complement, rather than replace, the restaurant’s identity.
