This week marked the last of the quartet of popular fashion weeks, London, New York, Milan and Paris. Closer to home, FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week just announced their stellar line-up for this month. The travel industry reopens just in time for peak tourist season in India, summer vacations. Read on to know more about updates from the automobile and art sector as well.

FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week announced a list of designers participating in their upcoming season-fluid edition set to take place in New Delhi in Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. From March 23-27, LFW will showcase designers like Pankaj & Nidhi, Samant Chauhan, Ranna Gill, Vaishali S, Reynu Taandon, Pawan Sachdeva, Siddartha Tytler and Outhouse. Manish Malhotra will be launching a new category under his eponymous brand, called DIFFUSE, a consciously priced, bridge to couture line. Collaborations such as NEXA x Tarun Tahiliani, Bata x Suneet Varma, Lakmé Salon x Varun Bahl, TENCEL™ LUXE x JJ Valaya, boAt x HUEMN, Natural Diamond Council x Rimzim Dadu will also be at Lakmé Fashion Week.  
Burberry x Supreme new collection

On March 10, NYC-based streetwear brand Supreme launched its collection in collaboration with British luxury retailer Burberry. The capsule features coats, tops and jeans with both brands’ logos. Ensembles include matching denim jacket and trousers in Burberry’s signature check pattern, trench coat and hooded sweatshirts, down puffer jackets, denim shorts, along with accessories like caps, and skateboards. 
A Picasso sculpture could fetch $30 million at auction 
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will be deaccessioning a valuable bronze cast of a woman’s head, named Tête de femme (Fernande). Made in 1909, it is the first sculpture the artist ever created in his Cubist-style and has been at the Met for more than two decades. However, another version of the same work was recently donated by Cubist art collection, Leonard Lauder. Hence, this piece will be sold at Christie’s in May 2022. In a statement, the Met said the proceeds from the sale will go toward acquisitions of new works for the museum’s permanent collection.  
India to restart commercial flights 
After suspending scheduled international flights on March 23, 2020, India is set to return to normal schedules on March 27, 2022, exactly two years later. Air bubble arrangements will also stand revoked thereafter, said civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in a tweet. India currently has air bubble agreements with 37 countries, including Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, UK, and USA.

Tourism Fiji has announced plans to lift travel-related restrictions and reopen borders for Indian tourists, adding India to the country’s ‘Travel Partner’ country list. As per reports, Indian travellers who are fully vaccinated can holiday in Fiji without quarantining. Nepal on Thursday also removed all pre-arrival testing requirements for double vaxxed travellers. Travellers who have not been vaccinated need to produce a negative RT-PCR test not older than 72 hours in Nepal. 
Annual Swiss watch industry analysis

Morgan Stanley, multinational investment bank and financial services company released its 2021 Swiss watch industry report in collaboration with LuxeConsult. According to its findings, Rolex, Audemars Piguet and Patek Phillipe combined accounted for 41% of the Swiss watches sold in 2021, up from 37% in 2019. For the first time, Audemars Piguet roped in more revenue than rival Patek Philippe, Cartier dethroned Swatch’s Omega second place reign, and now ranks right below Rolex. Industry giant Rolex broke revenue records to have its best year, its market share more than the next five brands on the list combined. The watch division at Hermès saw a 73% increase in revenue, while LVMH-owned Hublot reported a 45% rise in sales.  
Apple’s new releases

At its ‘Peak Performance’ event, Apple unveiled new products such as Mac Studio, iPhone SE 3, iPad Air and Studio Display. A fresh alpine green shade has also been introduced for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. Apple upgraded the iPhone SE to the A15 Bionic, the same one that is in the iPhone 13, as well as 5G. It retains the home button and Touch ID and has better battery life and an improved camera. The all-new iPad Air incorporates Apple’s M1 chip, a 12-megapixel ultrawide front camera, 5G connectivity and other updated features. The new Mac Studio, an updated version of the Mac Mini uses the new M1 Max chip. It has a high-bandwidth memory and supports up to 128GB and has six Thunderbolt 4 ports.  
BMW acquires Alpina 
The BMW Group adds another brand to its portfolio as ALPINA, a German vehicle manufacturer based in Buchloe becomes part of the company. The two brands have been collaborating since 1964, when BMW started applying factory warranties to cars equipped with Alpina components. The two also have an official cooperation agreement in place, that will expire on December 31, 2025. Till then, the company will continue to tune, develop, manufacture and sell BMW ALPINA vehicles within the existing deal. According to Autocar, parties have agreed not to disclose any financial details of the acquisition and no shares in the company will be transferred in the process.  
BMW goes local 
BMW X4 Facelift SUV

The German luxury carmaker on March 10 opened bookings for its new, made in India 2022 BMW X4 Facelift SUV, which debuted globally in June 2021. The X4 is available in a limited-run X4 Black Shadow Edition and a standard X4 variant. The car is equipped with a new set of 21-inch alloy wheels, a reworked dashboard with a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12-speaker sound system. Three different engine options are available in India, a 190hp, 2-litre, four-cylinder diesel, a 265hp, 3-litre six-cylinder diesel and a 252hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol.

Paris Fashion Week took place from February 28 to March 8, with iconic brands such as Dior, Hermès and YSL participating in the event. Kim Kardashian broke the internet with her caution-yellow tape wrapped suit, emblazoned with BALENCIAGA. Valentino took a whole new turn with its all-pink showcase, while Balmain ideated a body armour, protective padding and tactical gear inspired collection.

Lexus’ first electric sportscar

Lexus has unveiled images of its first all-electric sports car, which will be built and sold by 2030. Under the collective vision known as “Lexus Electrified,” Lexus will launch this sportscar that will have an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in mere two seconds. The carmaker is also set to release its first EV, the RZ Crossover, which is expected to make its debut in the coming weeks before going on sale by mid-2022.
