Mumbai’s Hottest New Restaurants Worth Dressing Up For

Here’s your guide to exploring the newly opened restaurants in the city (and should be on your radar).

Suma

Suma is Mumbai’s newest Indian–Arabic fine-dining destination, inspired by the historic Grand Trunk Road and the flavours of Arabia. The menu highlights dishes where North Indian and Middle Eastern traditions meet think Turkish-style kebabs, Palak Patta Chaat, Morabadi Dal, Raat ki Beli Kebab, and desserts like rose-pistachio baklava and crème brûlée-style kheer. Its cocktail programme, Madhushala, brings ingredient-led creations rooted in nostalgia and storytelling, alongside weekly Qawwali & Sufi Nights featuring folk artists from across India. With expressive interiors designed by Design Alma and a rich cultural narrative, Suma stands out as an experiential dining space worth discovering

Opa Kipos

The city’s beloved Greek escape (previously stemmed beside the Old Bastian) is back: louder, lusher, and ready to resurrect your feed. After a brief hiatus, Opa Kipos returns to Worli under Aspect Hospitality Group. Walking in feels like tumbling into Santorini: hand-trowelled lime plaster, deep-blue shutters, bougainvillea canopies, and an Atlas sculpture holding up a starlit ceiling. The 6,500 sq ft space is divided into a dining and performance hall, a VIP lounge, and a dramatic bar, all designed by Creative Clinic, Dubai.

The food, crafted by Chef Timothy Newton, draws from decades across Paris, London, California, and Australia. There’s mezze platters, ceviches, grills, seafood, and even a Jain-friendly spread treated with equal reverence. The Flaming Lobster Linguine promises drama; the Loukoumades seal the deal. At the bar, cocktails lean mythical: Olive Odyssey, Poseidon’s Mist, Dionysus’ Smoke, and Baklava Dreams: molecular alchemy meets holiday irreverence. And yes, the iconic plate-smashing ritual returns, now backed by purpose.

The Penang Table

Bold, layered, and quietly nostalgic, The Penang Table is Mumbai’s newest window into Malaysian cuisine. Helmed by F&B veteran Kishore DF, the restaurant celebrates Malaysia’s multicultural influences: Malay, Chinese, Indian, indigenous, and colonial through a menu stitched with brightness and heart. Head Chef Mitesh Rangras builds his menu around stories. The drinks programme, led by Pranav Modi, uses pandan, kaffir lime, lemongrass and other tropical aromatics to keep cocktails light, expressive and deeply complementary to the cuisine. The 34,000 sq ft space is drenched in sunlight and Malaysian jungle murals by day; spicy reds and warm yellows by night. It’s casual but elevated, the kind of place you linger long after your last Laksa.

Mumbai now has a place dedicated to that perfect in-between hour: 8ish – the brainchild of Rachel Goenka, founder of The Sassy Spoon, House of Mandarin, and Sassy Teaspoon. 8ish is designed for slowing down. It features amber lighting, aged wood, tactile walls, maroon marble bar, and a lenticular artwork that shifts between Salvador Dalí and John Lennon. Shweta Kaushik (SKID) builds the space like a moodboard for golden-hour living. The bar programme, helmed by Jishnu A.J., is ingredient-first and quietly brilliant — steam distillation, hydrosol extraction, ferments, and foraged ingredients.
